Just want to wish my Brother-in-law a Happy Birthday have a Fantastic day xox
It has been a very busy start to our 3 months of home away from home. The day after we arrived was a spaghetti dinner and dance night, friends had already got us tickets, so after getting food supplies and sorting out our place, off we went to shake rattle and roll for a couple of hours...always lots of fun and great to see so many of the familiar faces once again.
The Saturday saw us erecting our Gazebo with the help of Brother in law then Dave & Jody popped over to help as well, which was great as we also put up the side shade for the trailer. We all finished up with a nice cuppa and a piece of Boiled Fruit Cake.
Sunday went to Desert Hills Par 3 golf course for 18 holes with David and Janice. First time to golf since last September... The Author had a fantastic game, dare I mention beating ones Hubby by 4 points!!! I believe it did us all good to get out and hit our balls again, great fun was had by all.
In the evening it was time to curl up and catch up with Downton Abbey, after having a lovely roast dinner supper, which had been cooking while out golfing in slow cooker, always nice to come home to,just as if someone had made supper for you!
Monday saw us getting back into the old routine;_
Charles shuffelng and myself swimmimg. I decided this year I wanted to do other things and swimming was one of them.
I swam 80 lengths...no the pool is not regular pool size, however it takes me 5 minutes to swim 10 lengths, which I thought was great after not swimming for a couple of years. I finished my swim with water excercises which made it an hour in the pool,so this has been my Mon Wed and Fri routine so far...Love it! I was hoping to get into the gym more while I'm here so thought this Wed I would go, and therefore every Wed and Sat I would go to the Gym, however I've put my name down for battle of the sexes shuffle tournament which...yes you've guessed it is this Wed, that's ok things will get sorted!
Wed 14th afternoon we had the first official Alberta Days held in the ballroom, where we had Happy Hour with a quiz game where we had to answer questions about Alberta, this was lots of fun and you got involved with different people.
After we had beef on a bun, coleslaw and beans with chocolate cake for dessert,we all had fun with a dance or two, played by The End of The Road Band, consisting of 5 Albertans and one Texan who was an honourary Albertan for the day!!!
Thurs 15 Golfing at Rio for the Can-Am tournament with the Guy's and Gal's golf club at Country Roads.
In the evening or rather by 4:30 saw us all at the ballroom for the Sock Hop...always a fantastic night.
Fri 16 our morning routines them doing laundry and housework. Sat saw us at the Flea Market, and picking up more food !
Sunday 18th was Country Roads 30th Anniversary, which is why some activities were brought ahead. In the afternoon we met at Dave and Jody's to watch the parade. It was lots of fun and I've just posted a few photos. But I have to mention about one Gentleman who was in the parade. Look for photo of golf cart with the name of Graham Bell on the side, this Gentleman (passenger side) was in hospital and said how he wanted to be in the parade...he was, and 1/2 an hour after parade finished he passed away!
Graham Bell was 92 and lived life right to the end...a lesson for us all? :-)
All caught up and future blog's hopefully wont be as long ?!!! ;-) Until next time...
